‘Enter the Cauldron’

On Display from January 20th - March 10th 2024

“I believe there is a big misconception when it comes to making art today, (and honestly, with many movements throughout history). The Focus is entirely on the destination, not the journey. Artists most of the time feel this huge pressure to only present what is 100% perfect and complete to the general public. Maybe that is all that the general public can understand. I don’t have any interest in pandering to that. The more I create, the more I find character in less-than-perfect attempts and blatant mistakes, so much so that I’ve started incorporating improvisational approaches to my process. This makes me feel most in tune with what is meant to happen. When you embrace the forces of nature that are running parallel with you when you do whatever it is you are called to do, that is when you ‘enter the cauldron’.

Accompanying me for this show is my very good friend Joe Rocioppi, with his welded animal sculptures. Joe uses pieces of scrap metal that he finds out in the wild to make very impressive pieces. His work not only shows his knack for welding, but that his mind is constantly working to flip concepts on their heads.”
