Raising Heck Opening Reception

The opening reception for ‘Raising Heck’ will be more than an art show — it will include community conversation, shared resources for families, and space to connect with other parents, caregivers, and artists navigating these times together.

Caregiver is intentionally defined broadly — this includes parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, guardians, teachers, mentors, and anyone who plays a meaningful role in raising a child.

This exhibition will feature paired artwork displayed together — one piece created by the caregiver/artist and one piece created by a child in their life responding to the prompt “Hope.” The intention is to create a visual conversation between generations, highlighting the contrast and connection between what caregivers carry and why they choose to shoulder it.

Both works will be exhibited side by side as part of the installation.

As always our receptions are free and open to the public, all ages welcome!

Tintype Photography Event

📸 Tintypes Are Coming to Huntington!
Get ready—Gettysburg’s only legit tintype studio is packing up their chemicals, cameras, and killer vibes and bringing the full 1800s photo experience straight to The Calling Bell for a one day pop-up.

We’re talking authentic Wetplate tintypes (yes, on real metal plates using Civil War-era techniques)

A tintype is a type of photograph made by creating a direct positive image on a thin sheet of metal coated with a dark lacquer or enamel. Popular in the 1860s, tintypes have a moody, vintage look and are made using a wet plate collodion process that captures incredible detail. Each one is completely unique—handcrafted, chemical-based, and developed on the spot. It’s not just a photo, it’s a piece of history.

📷 Want the real-deal metal plate magic? 1/2 size wetplates are $80 and a full size is $100.
And yes, pets are welcome, so bring your familiars.

Let’s get weird. Let’s get ghostly. Let’s get immortalized.

‘whimsical chaos’ Opening Reception

Join us for our opening reception of ‘whimsical chaos’, a solo exhibit of watercolor paintings and illustrations by artist Normandie Syken!

Normandie Syken is an illustrator from Queens, NY. She majored in art at The Frank Sinatra School of the Arts and earned her BFA in illustration at the School of Visual Arts in 2017. During her time at art school, Normandie experimented with different styles of drawing and painting as well as different media including watercolors and printmaking techniques.

For the past eight years Normandie has worked as a freelance illustrator. She has published two picture books “Little Red Witch” and “Puss in Boots”. Her artist’s books, prints, and paintings are in collections such as the Beinecke Library, The Rhode Island School of Design, and The British Library. Recently, Normandie was commissioned to paint a mural at a new restaurant in Greenwich Village called Frog Club which was the former infamous speakeasy Chumley’s. The mural consisted of frogs during the prohibition era wrapping around the whole restaurant. Normandie has also painted murals at Cheeburger Cheeburger in Forest Hills, NY and Nautilus Roasting in Huntington Station, NY. Normandie continues to paint and draw every day and is inspired by whimsical stories, pop culture, and everyday genres. Her favorite method of creating illustrations is with pen and watercolor but is always experimenting with new ideas and techniques.
